Missy K. Atwood has had over 15 years of experience as a trial attorney with special emphasis in medical malpractice defense litigation. She represents hospitals, health care insurers, physicians, nurses, and other health care providers in all aspects of risk and claims management. She also advises businesses and represents clients in complex businesses in commercial litigation. She maintains an active practice advising clients regarding insurance coverage issues and disputes. Missy graduated cum laude from Baylor University in 1988 where she earned a B.A. in speech communication. She received her J.D. in 1991 from Baylor University School of Law, cum laude, where she was also Lead Articles Editor and Notes & Comments Editor, Baylor Law Review. Missy has published such articles as Rule 166b: The Discovery of Work Product Based on Substantial Need and Undue Hardship, 42 Baylor L. Rev. 573 (1990). She frequently presents continuing education and seminars to lawyers and healthcare providers on issues related to preventing or handling healthcare liability disputes. Missy is licensed to practice in the U.S. District Court, Western District. She is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
